The purchase of the steamer Maili Pomarewas ifavourably coinmeiiited upon. Proceedings were enlivened when Mr A. M. Samuel (Ohinemuri) was extolling the scenic .attractions of theWaihi Beach, his remarks prompting Mr W. E. Parry (Auckland Central) to ask, “Where is this place you ar e talking about ?” “Thfe hon. member; knows Waihi very well,” replied Mr Samuel. “He has worked in th© mines; there, and .no doubt ha,s plfearant memories of those days.” (Loud laughten.) The 'member for Ohinemuri again scored later at the expense of Mr A. Harris (Waitemata). In very vivid and picturesque language he. was describing the beauties of >his own district, when Mr Harris asked him if he was ife-adin.g from a Tourist Department; pamphlet. “No,” was the retort, “but that is what should' be in it.”
