A MOUSE TORTURED.
HELD OYER LIGHTED CANDLE. An unusual .case was heard at Northampton when "William Fulcher, aged 18. a heelniaker, wa.g. .summoned for tortur.in.g a mouse.
I’.C. Sharpe said that on looking into the house where Fulcher lodged lie saw the youth holding a by its tail w’th its head and body i'n, the llaine of a candle. When spoken to Fulcher said : “I could iiot kill it hi any ether way. I hit it against, a. wall first.”

Tr<a town clerk said tlia.t a mousewhich had been caught came within the meaning of “an animal in captivity.” and cruelty toward-- it was an offence- under the "Protect'an of Animals Act.
The Mayor, in imposing a. fl life of 15s. said lie could not imagine how a young man could be’ guilty of such a dastardly act.
