CLUB FOOTBALL MATCHES.

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—l.t is my desire and hope to draw the attention of Rugby football enthusiasts, and the union to the peculiar position suffered by the nonrepresentative senior players of this game in Paeroa. Players in general have enjoyed the privilege of having luu} np to the present time some eight games or so. For the last five Saturdays only those fortunate enough, to be selected in the reps, have played football. The rest, in. the interval, have become proficient in the art of barracking. The position is; this : while we players wish the reps;, every success, and certainly congratulate each one in being selected for same, we in turn are keen to participate; in a game ourselves —not meaning 'as representatives;, but in reference to the game itself. There are somei 60-odd senior players in Paeroa, yet for six or seven continuous Saturdays 43 players have to hide ’’footy” togs ; and become spectators. It is certainly not our wish to do so. It would not; be of anyone who plays Rugby. Would it.not be possible' for the union to arrange a gamq for 43 men ? I thlink I : can assume that the public would 1 not be against witnessing a senior game as a curtain-raiser to a. representative game.. If our reps, were playing away foin home, then the allocation of a ground would be a simple matter. As it is now, only seven or elight games are allowed non-reps. iiv the, whole of the football season. This spems hard to realise; May be our union hasj not realised 1 this, and I only hope that now it has been brought to their- notice through your paper they will 'at least endeavour to arrange some match to accommodate senior players who at present have the consolation of only watching, the game. A PLAYER.
