The inter-union senior and junior competitions under the Thames Valley Rugby Union will be continued on Saturday. i In the senior competition for the Poland Cup the Paeroa representatives will meet, the Piako fifSeni -at the Paeroa Domain, and the Hauraki Plains team will play Wahii at NgateaIn the junior competition for the Sharebrokers’ Cup the same subunion teams meet as in the senior matches, but the opposite teams travel, the Paeroa juniors going to Te Aroha and tlie Plains juniors th Waihi. Connell’s bus will leave Waitakaruru at noon, Ngatea at 12.30 p.m., Turua' at 12.45 p.m., and Kerepeqhi at. 1 p.m. Players of both Paeroa teams are required to assemble at the drill hall at 7.30 o’clock to-morrow night. ■ PAEROA RUGBY UNION. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The management committee of the Paeroa Rugby Union held its weekly meeting on Monday night, the chair' man- (Mr W. P. Pennell) presiding over, Father Taylor, Messrs M. Crosby, E. P. Fathers, E. Edwards, L. E; Shaw, J. Pinder, H. Tams, ,aiid D. Kerr (s-ecretary). PLAYER CAUTIONED. ’ A letter was received from the Waihi Union advising that the referee, Mr A. N. Emmett, -had found it necessary to order a Paeroa player, L. CCarrick, off the field’ during th& Pae-: r.oa v. W.aihi match for the Sharebrokers’ Cup at Waihi on- June 30, for making sarcastic remarks relative to his decisions after having been previously warned. The secretary, who wa£| a spectator at the match, explained that Carrick had made- some remark to a clubma.te, and had not spoken direct to tlie referee. Carrick had not been previously warned for talking, but had been mistaken for another player. It was agreed to severely caution the player concerned.
TRIP TO TAURANGA. A letter, was received from the distinct traffic manager, N-Z. Railways, advising that in response to- the union’s request it had been decided to delay the rturn train from Tauranga to Paeroa on July 21 to leave Tauranga at 6 p.pi., arriving at Paeroa at 9.'5 p.m. The train from Paeroa for Tauranga .would be delayed to leave Paeroa at 8.30 a.m., arriving at Tauranga at 11.45 a.m. Special day excursion tickets would be provided from Paeroa and intermediate stations. After some discussion it was decided, on the motion of Father Taylor, to advertise the excursion in the “Gazette,” and to give the trip as much publicity as, possible.
The chairman stated that in all probability two basketball teams ap.d a hockey team would also make the excursion. A letter was received from the Tauranga • Union advising that complete arrangements were being made for the' reception of the Paeroa visitors. A request was made that Paeroa w’ould also include a representative junior team. On the motion of the chairman it was resolved to select a junior team to make the trip. SCHOOLS UNION. The Thames Valley Primary Schools Union wrote advising that the annual meeting, would be held at. P.aeroa -on July 14. Included in, the business for consideration .was the fixing of the location for the Northern Roller Mills Shield matches. It was. resolved that the secretary be the delegate to attenfi the meeting, with a recommendation that the matches be played at Paeroa. • the union pledging itself to assist with the billeting out of the players. GENERAL. The treasurer reported that the receipts at Paeroa on Saturday totalled £1 14s. Mr E. Edwards was appointed manager of the senior team ,at Paeroa o-n-Satur.day, and Mr E. P. Fathers wasdelegated to take charge of the entertainment of the Piako team.
