BIRCH CUP MATCH.
PAEROA TEAM TO PLAY THAMES.
The following teams have been selected to take part in the Thames v. Paeroa match for the- Birch Cup at Thames on Saturday :—

Smith, C. Abrajiapi, M. Hayward, W. Percy, G. Pollock. J. Strange. Emergencies : W. Brunton (forward) and C. Cameron (back). PAEROA RUGBY UNION. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The management committee of the Paeroa Rugby'Union held its weekly meeting on Monday night, the chairman (Mr W. P. Pennell) presiding over .Messrs M. Crosby, E. Edwards, L. E. Shaw, Father Taylor, and Mr D. S. Kerr (secretary). JOHNSTON CUP MATCH. A letter was received from the Thames Rugby Union submitting July 28 or August 4 as dates available for playing for the Johnston. Cup at Thames. It was pointed out that on August 4 Thames would play South Auckland, .and if that date was suitable to Paeroa the match for the cup could be sfet down as a curtain-raiser.
The chairman explained that the match would apply to juniors onlyAfter some discussion it was. resolved to leave the matter-in the hands of the secretary to submit a report for the next meeting. SEATING AT DOMAIN.
The chairman reported that he and Mr Crosby had been able to arrange for. seating accommodation until the end of the season, so I’opg as the union kept the seats under, cover during the week and kept them in repair. The superintendent of the domain had agreed to allow the seats to be stored in the bowling, club pavilion.
It was; decided to thank the superintendent for his offer of help, and it was resolved to forward a complimentary ticket for thei season. ENTERTAINMENT OF TEAM.
The chairman, explained that owing to the Waihi Union being unable to enterta’n visitiag teams at. Waihi it had been deflffied by that union not to accept the invitation from the Paeroa Union to stay to dinner on Saturday evening last. Fortunately the manager, of the local team was advised on the Friday night, and the catering arrangements wei’e cancelled. EXCURSION TO TAURANGA.
Referring to the proposed excursion to Tauranga on July, 21, tihe chairman said that h© was in touch witli the railway officials; apd every endeavour was being made to obtain excursion rates- If such rates could be arranged it. was likely that a hockey team and a basketball team would also make the trip. The excurs’on arranged for Thames on July 14 had .nothing to do with the Thames Union. It was resolved! to leave the matter in the hands of thetohairman. general. A letter was received from tihe Paeroa Referees’ Association advising that Mr, H. M. Shand had been appointed the association’s delegate to the un’on, vice Mr G. Sale, who had left the district. The chairman was appointed manager of tlie local, team travelling to Thames on Saturday next. The treasurer reported that the gate receipts .at Paeroa on Saturday amounted to £l2 13s 6d.
Accounts amounting to £l3 4s 9d were passed for payment.
Mr E. Edwards was appointed to take charge of the representative jerseys at Thames on Saturday.
