ELECTION OF TRUSTEES. KEEN INTEREST TAKEN. Very keen interest was taken bj’ the settlers of tire newly constituted Hauraki Plains West D'rainage District in tlie first election of trustees,, which was held on Wednesday. Tlie polling booths were at Ngatea and Pipiroa. and lhe results were as follows : — pipiroa Ngatea Tl.
Messrs; Waite and Keane are tlie defeated candidates. Votes by declaration, which will not be counted until tlie- official recount, will increase these figures, but will not affect the result. There were 136 names on the roll, and it was possible for 272 votes to be cast, so considering that there was possibly a certain amount of plump voting, tlie figures, show the great interest taken in the election.
