Following on a very wet d;ay on Monday, yesterday . was fine, with intervals of sunshine. A cold southerly wind also prevailed which did much to dry up the sodden ground and wet streets and roado. Last night afid tliic morning were very cold, but bright sunshine has obtained to-da.y.

It is now an offence to pass a car on a. blind corner, and only two vehicles may drive abreast. Foote’s Mine at Hikurangi has been idle for about a week, as; the result of its having been declared “black” by the focal branch of the Miners’ Union. Mr Foote-, who has employed twelve men on day wages, proposed that the men put in a price .a,t which they would work the mine on contract. He made the stipulation that one man. should not be included in the party. The man concerned took the matter to- the union, which decided that his exclusion could not be allowed. As Mr. Foote refused to change his attitude, the union has deleaved the irf'ne ‘black” until such time a® the miner objected to is included in the party.

For some time pajst the Te Aroha D’strict High. School, has been endeavouring to obtain a dental clinic. At the last meeting of the committee a letter was received from the Minister of Education advising that while tlie department was fully al've to the need for dental treatment at schools, no trained nurses were available at present, but Te Aroha’s case would be considered with many others, when nurses were available.
Psychology is one of the sciences that are attracting much attention today. Therefore Rev. J. Lowden will give a series of consecutive a.ddresses in the Paeroa Presbyterian Church on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. The introductory lecture will, be- on “Temperament.” This, will be followed by others on “Body, Souls and Spirit,” “Personality,” “Habit,” “Memory,” “Will,” “Imagination,” “Conscience,” “Mass Psychology,” etc. Watch Church advertisements.*
