DESTRUCTIVE STORM.
AVIATION FIELD SWEPT. MUCH DAMAGE AT WASHINGTON. NEW YORK, June 9. At Bolling Field, Washington, a Wind of nearly the force of tornado swept, the Goevrnnient landing field late in the afternoon to-day. It completely wrecked 11 planes and injured six persons. The damage is estimated at between. £50,000 and £lOO,OOO. The sto rail struck with uncanny suddenness, which prevented the removal /of the planes to safety. Several "hangars were flattened to the ground, I while a few planes were hurled to a height of 200 ft before crashing. One plane descended on a Red Cross ambulance containing three persops. Both plane and ambulance were demolished. The occupants escaped with slight injuries. Two aviators were approaching the field when they perceived the 'storm cloud, and avoided' certain death by a quick change of course.
