■ Outstandingly fine are the tions in this week’s issue of-the “N.ZSporting and Dramatic Review featuring the Great Northern Carnival at Ellerslie. Principal incidents of the races are depicted in thrilling -manner. Beau Cavalier has special pride of place in his great victory, while other jumping contestants, appear at graphic moments. The stage, -concert, film* and fashion sections are represented in artistic portraits covering a wide range. Oveseas and local subjects are also well represented. The great increase in the number of smokers in London —particularly amongst women —according to a recent cable, has led the managers of the underground railways to transpose their smoking carriage rules.
