RIFLE SHOOTING.

PAEROA DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB. COMMENCEMENT OF COMPETITION The Paeroa Defence Rifle Club carried qut its first shoot at the radge on Saturday la.st, in! connection with the series of competitions to be held. The conditions were sevep. shots each at 200 and 300 yards.

The first prize was: won by Rfm. R. Wells, wffio tied with Rfm. F. Helling with a score of 66, including handicap. Wells having the best score at the longer won on the count back. Helling took second prize.

Wells, is the first member of the club to register a possible in competition, and received the wellmerited'applause, from his clubmates.

The earlier attendance on the range is much appreciated, especially by those members who are last to fire, and sometimes have to go down in a failing light, which makes: good scoring difficult.

A further trophy competition will be fired on Saturday next, and members are requested to make an effort to be on the range so as to commence shooting at .1.30 p.m.
