STRUGGLE IN THE BUSH. HINTS AT MURDER AND SUICIDE. SYDNEY, May 1. A man of 35 has been arrested in connection with a sensational attack on a girl in the bush two milers from Robertson- on Sunday afternoon. The arrested man has been ohai'ged with attempting to murder the girl. It is alleged that the man attacked her with a razor, inflicting, howevW, Only a small wound in her throat, necessitating the instertion of only one stitch. Con&table Porteous, of Robertson, was handed a note on- Sunday afternoon by a motorist, who stated that a man near Macquarie Pass had asked him to deliver it at the Police station. In the note.the police were tojd that the dead bodies of thq writer and the girl would be found in the bush. -A certain definite spot was mentioned, and Constable; Porteous, with a hastily-formed search party, at once set out for the locality. THE WOUNDED GIRL. At the spot they found the girl, who was bleeding frp|m a wound in the throat. She is alleged to have told the police, that she drove to Macquarie Paisjs in a sulky with the man. He drove into the bush, unharnessed the horse, anl. then, producing a razor, made a furious attack on her. The girl, who is : strong and well built, fought strenuously, but eventually th.q man succeeded, so she states, in slashing her in the throat. When he saw the, blood he ran away. The girl was taken into Robertson, where a doctor stitched the wound. A posse was formed, and at an early hour yesterday thq man mentioned by the girl as her assailant was discovered in the bush and arrested.
