PAEROA LADIES* CLUB.
SECOND TEAM FORMED.
■A well-attended meeting of’ members and supporters, <f£ the Paeroa Ladies’ Hockey Club was held on Tuesday night. After Ave new members had been elected, the president explained that the meeting had been called for; the purpose of considering the advisability of pla.cing a B team in, the field. It would not be possible foi’ such a team to take part in the association competition this season, but it could get in some solid practice, and possibly later on in the season obtain a match or two with outside te;a.ms and witfi’the A team. After a brief, discussion it was Resolved to field a B team, and that Mrs Wood be captain and coach. The appointment of a. deputy-captain was held in abeyance. ■ The Piako Association, wrote accepting the affiliation of the Paeroa c’ub am] acknowledging the receipt of the affilia.tioji. and registration fees. The club captain (Miss V. Shand) and the secretary (Miss Hartley) were appointed delegates to the association. A long discussion followed on ways and means of raising funds for the purpose of defraying travelling expenses and 1 the purchase of equipment. Finally a sub-committeq. comprising Mesdames Gibb, S. Silcock, Finnie, Wood, and Misses Swanai, Hartley, and Gibb, w;as set up to arrange for the holding of. a concert, the committee to report to a meeting to be held on Tuesday night next. In order to assist the finances of the club it was decidted to impose a fine Of 6d a month on all subscriptions unpaid on June 1. The question of obtaining a suitable room in which to haye.afternoon teas on occasions when teams visited Paeroa was discussed. The offer of Mrs Shand to arrange for the entertainment of the Thames team on Saturday was accepted with thanks. It was resolved that the terms and conditions forwarded by the Ladies’ Guild for the use of the Par'sh HaU ( be accepted. TEAM FOR TOMORROW. The following have been) selected to play the Thames College O'/l Girls’ team at Paeroa to-morrow Goal-keeper, Miss P. Treanor ; backs, Miss N. Finnic, .Mrs Cooper ; half-backs, Misses G. Finnie, E. Bel'!,, B. Gibb ; forwards, Misses M - . Hartley, P. Piv'ott, V. Shand, .Mills A. Vuglar, and Miss C. Swann. Emergencies: Misses P. Swift and! D. Wilson. The match will commence a,t 2.15 p.m. sharp. The B team is requested to be on the ground and take part in a practice at 1.4‘5 p.m. MATCHES ON PLAINS. Ladies’ hockey matches on the Plains to-morrow are as, follows : Turua v. Kopuarahl A, at Kopuarahi; Kerepeehi v. Ngatea School, at Nga-. tea ; Kopuarahi B v. Waitakaruru, at Waitakaruru.
