PERSONAL.
o Mr N. R. Mitchell, who has been resident inspector for the N.Z. Insurance Company in this district for the last ten years, has received notice of transfer to Auckiand, and will take up his new duties on 'June 1. ■On Monday evening last a large and representative gathering of Plains settlers assembled at the Pub’" lie Hah, Tur.ua, to farewell Dr. E. R. Lange, who has been, practicing on the Plains for the last two years, and who has made himself very popular with all the settlers. Mr J- C. Miller presided, and said that the people of the Plains did not want Dr. Lange to go withaut some memento, and he (the speaker) had been asked to present him with a well-,filled, wallet. Dr. Lange, however, had gained something that money couild not buy, and that was the esteem of all whet had met him. In a short reply Dr. Lange said that while resident on, the Plains he had met them individually without agitation,, but to meet them that evening colletcively he felt considerable agitation. He was grateful for the good wishes extended to him. He had the ambition to go Holme and learn more, but he regretted leaving Turua and all the friends he had made.
