TERRITORIAL CAMP.

UNDER CANVAS AT RACECOURSE. HAURAKI REGIMENT DETAILS. For the first time for over 17 years a military camp is being held, at Pae-' roa. Commencing this morning,' the detais of the fii‘st battalion, Hauraki Regiment, who were unable to attend the two regimental main camps at Whakate and. Ngaruawahia earlier in the year are assembling for a perjod of training at the lOhinemuri Jockey Club’s property on Thames Road. Officers and n.c.o/s are at present undergoing a three days’ special course, and by Monday between 150 and. 200 riem will be under canvas. The c'aimp will break up on Monday, May 7. Au. advance party of trainees arrived at Paeroa on Tuesday, and hajve been engaged in laying out the camp and doing such work as is required to be done prior to the arrival of the main body.

A comprehensive sylllabus of training has been drawn up which provldpis for work of an interesting nature and at the same time offers plenty of variety. Th e camp commandant is Major E. A. Porritt, .M.C., with Lieut. V. J. Innes. N.Z.S'.C., as adjutant and Lieut. E. J. Brow.ning, N.Z.S.C., as assistant adjutant and qiiartei master. The instructional staff are: Camp Sergeant-Major S.S.M. (W.O. 1) W. C. Cosgrove, S.S’s.M.. G. Patterson, R. Meacham, and A. Steward, M.M. S.S.M. (W.O. 1) N. C. Busby is camp quartermaster-sergeant.
