PLAINS COUNTY WORKS.

WORKS FOR THE MONTH. REPORT BY ENGINEER. The- Hauraki Plains County engineer (Mr F. Basham) reported' to the council meeting on Thursday as follows : “Old Main Road, Netherton.—Good progress.has been made with the surfacing of this road. Two more scowloads should, complete the work. • “Stop-bank, Netherton. —At the request of the Public Works Department the metalling of that portion of the new stop-bank at Netherton over which the- main highway runs is. being carried out by the council’s men and plant. The bottom 'course 'Jias been laid and the second coat is in. progress. “Kaihe-ie-Torehape Loan. —The contractors have made good progress wit,h the gravelling. About one week’s fine weather will see the work completed. “Coxliead’s Filling.—A Government grant of £BO on a £2 for £1 basis has been made for metalling 12 chains of the new formation at Coxhqad’s pilling. I ,have arranged with -Mr Tattley to supply- metal at 11s 6d a yard dor livereq on, to the road. “Awaiti Water Supply—The report asked for by the Works Committee! is in hand, and as soon as all information required is to hand will be completed for next meeting.”
