HOCKEY.
OPENING SEASON.. PLAINS GAMES COMMENCE. The Hauraki Plains Ladies Hockey Association’s inter-club compet tion commenced on Saturday last in dull weather. playing on the football field at Ngatea, the Kopuarahi A team won by three goals to nil. Miss A. Candy secured two and Miss M. Harwood one. The field was rough and not marked. Mr D. Elliott was referee, and the teams were as follows: — Ngatea (blue and red). —Misses E. McDonald, U. Birkenhead, D. Wade, B. Benny, E. McPherson, J. Rountree, T. McKerchar, N. Elliott, E. Wade, Mrs Sydenham, and Mrs N. Jackson. Kopuarahi (blue and ydllow).— Misses A. Candy, Edna. Candy, D. Hai - wood, H. Harwood, Ethel Candy, M. Harwood, A. Greein, A. Jensen, L. Fislher, Mrs T. O’Carroll, Miss MMiller. At Kerepeehi the Waitakaruru team secured a win. bv nine goals to nil. The game; was refereed by Mr G. Boswell, and was played in Mr G. Courtney’s paddock, the .short paspalum grass making a good playing surface. Five goals were secured by Mips M. Hill, two by Miss B. Hunter, and one each by Misses. Peters and' Berney. The teams were as follows Waitakaruru (blue and green). Misses D. Dobbs, V. Harris, N. Peters, ' G. Harris, B. Hunter, A. Peters, N. Beaver, E. Jowsey, M. Hill, F. Berney, T. Greathead. Kerepeehi (red; and white). —Misses R. Smith, E. Hegh, M. Nicholson, A. Green, I. Calander, E. Thompson, M. Kidd, M. Hamill, A. Hamill, B- Thompson, H. Hands. The Ngatea High School team and the Kopuarahi B team met at Kopuarahi, the game resulting in a. win for school by six goals to nil.
