THE RAINFALL.
FIGURES FOR MARCH. Z RAIN ON NINE DAYS. From observations taken at ’ the’ local office -of the Publ’c Works Department the rainfall for last month at Paeroa totalled 8.86 inches, compared with 5:87 inchas, for the corresponding month in 1927. Of last month’s total- 8.43 inches fell during the first wqek. R;ain fell on 'nine days during the month, the heaviest fall be ; ng on March 5, when 5.85 inches were recorded. The total rainfall for the first three months of this year is 11.28 inches;, which is 1.59 Inches leps thani for the corresponding period of 1927. The highest reading of the barometer, 30.46 points, -occurred on March 3, and the lowest, 29.87 pointe, on March 6: The average reading for the month was 30.25 points.
The, temperature averaged 62 degrees, and on six. days the thermometer registered 66 degrees, which was the highest reading for the month, the lowest being '57 degrees, on March 20. A wind prevailed on 19 days. PLAINS RAINFALU RECORDING AT KEREPEEHI. The rainfall for the month of March, as recorded at the Lands Office;. Kcrepcehi. totalled 3.32 inches. Rain was recorded on nine days, the fall being equally d'Stributed throughout the month and the- heaviest being for the 24 hours ending at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, 6th. when 1.36 inches were recorded. The total rainfall for the year to date is 5.61 inches, rain, having fallen oil fifteen days.
