An Essex motor-car driven by Mr W. Taylor, of Orchard East Road, Turua, collided with a bicycle riddeni hy a boy named Treadaway near the Kejrepeehj corner while the people, were returning home from the Ke,rer peehi sports on Easter Monday. The cyJist swerved on to the middle of the road in front of the car, and in swerving to dodge him the diivei turned his car suddenly, with the result that part of thei steering gear broke. The back wheel of the car passed over the cycle and' the car ran into the roadside drain. No one was injured, but the car and the bicycle were considerably damaged.

A Turiia farm labourer, Thomas PRyan, was arrested at the Ke'repeehi Hall at midnight on. Easter Monday: and at the Thames Police Court yesterday morning he pleaded l guilty to being disorderly while drunk. Messrs ■W. H. Lucas and W. Danby, J’s.P., convicted and fined 1 him £L with costs 12s 6d.
Befoue the Aard serv'ce car which capsized in the Pokeno Valley could be removed to a garage thieves stripped it of all the accessories. A fire extinguisher and a rug disappeared on the day of the mishap, and within the next few days the steering wheal and column, a cigar. I’ghte' l , inspection lamp, radiator cap, and gear le.ver knob were removed. The clock was also stolen, the glass over all the instruments on the dashboard being broken for the purpose. The removal of the steering wheel and column prevented the car from being driven or towejd to a garage, and the front wheels had to be placed on a truck to enable it to be moved.
Cricket matches betweqm teams from- the Piako and the Hauraki Plains were to be played at Ngatea o.n Saturday last, but the piako Association cancelled the matches, as players could not make the trip.
A return, tabled at Wednesday’s meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council showed that 53 cows, 28 heifers, 154 sheep, 3 lambs, 3 calves, and 5 pigs were slaughtered at the; Paeroa abattoirs during March. Fees for the month amounted to £5l 17s.
Mr D. W. Dunlop, supervisor of the manual and technical branch of the Education Board, Auckland, was, i' l Paeroa on Wednesday laist. After conferring with the headmaster (Mr G. H. Taylor) of the local high school, Mr Dunlop .left for Kerepeehi, where he met the parents and discussed the matter of transport of children to the Kerepeehi school.
The total number of consumers connected to the Thames 1 Valley Power Board’s mains on March 31 was 4807. In these figures the Thames and Te Arolia boroughs are not included, the consumers in Thames being 1056 and in Te Aroha 625. During the; month 33 lighting and heating consumers, 7 waterheaters, and 4 electric ranges, together with 11 motors on farms, of which three were 2 h.p. milking motors. There are now connected 1378 wateoheaters and 220 electric ranges, and the number of motors connected and running is 2458, namely, 1703 milking motors, 294 separating and pumping motors on farms, and 461 motors on meters qanging from Vsth to 100 h.p. In addition, 28 consumers had additional lighting and heating points installed during the month.
