The connecting-up of thq /stop-bank nealr t'he ferry was completed Inst week with the exception of the small gap where the temporary road crosses. This deviation will be in use for some weejks, as the claying of the new road on the stop-bank will probably not be commenced for a month, as the big steam excavator still has about half a mile of stop-bank to cover. The dnedge which made the stop-bank is to be shifted down-stream to the end of the fleift hand stop-bank about opposite the Hikutaia wharf and below the steam dredge which 1 is working at the other bank. The removal of the pipeline will enable the ferry to be reopened, but as the pontoon is being ovenliaule.d this may be delayed fot a day or two.
