WAIKATO MARKET REPORT.
The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., reports : —
Beef. —Prices continue to improve for both prime ox and cow beef, best ox making up to 34s per 100 lbs., and prime cow and heifer 28s to 295. With exporters still operating prospects look bright for high prices this winter.
Fat Sheep.—There has been a good rise, and prices are firm for all classes of fat sheep. Moist of the yai dings are small with, strong competition, especialy for ewes.
Store Sheep.—A keen demand still exists for good breeding ewes, store wethers and good store lambs. Store Cattle—Good have been coming forward with competition keen for 'grown and young steers. Good store cows are also wanted and there is a fair inquiry for in-calf Jersey heifers. Weaner Jersey heifers are slightly easier.
Pigis.—Competition is keen- for bac'oners and porkers at improved prices, prime quality making equal to ■s%d lb. Good stores are wanted, but weaners are still very low. Horses, —Good useful farm sorts are in demand, but hig heavy horses nre dull of sale. There is:, practically no demand for the light class.
We quote : Bullocks, prime heavy, £ll 15s to £l2 10s, medium £9 lOS. to £lO 10s ; cows, prime heavy £7 to £lO 10ls, medium £6 15s to £7 10jS, unfinished £4 10s to £5 ss; heifers, prime, £8 5s to £lO 10s ; good store cows, £4 5s to £4 15s ; cull cows, £2. to £2 10s ; steers, 4 years forward, £7 15s to £B, 4 year stores £7 5s to £7 10's, 3 years stores £6 5s to £6 10s, 2% years stores £5 to £5 10s 18-months £3 15s to £4 5s ; choice Jersey and Jersey cross weaner heifers £3 5s to £4 ; heifers, Jersey cross 18 months (in calf) £7 10s to £9 ; wethers, prime .heavy shorn 27s to 30s, prime medium 241 s 6d to 25s 6d ; ewes, prime shorn, 20s to 30s, medium 17s to 18s. 6d ; lambs, prime fat, 22s to 24s ; wethers, 4-tooth stores, 23s 6d to 275, 2-tooth stores, 21s to 235; breeding ewes, good 5-year, 22s 6d to 245, good 4>year 25s to 265, 4-tooth to ’5 year 22s to 24s 6di, sound mouth 18s to 20s, aged 14s to 16s, 2-tcoth 28s to 30s ; lambs, best woolly store 15s 6d to 18s, medium 13(3 to 15s ; best shorn, store 14s 6d to 17 s , medium 12s to 13s 6d; small store 10s to 12s. Pigs : Baconers, prime £3 10s to £3 15s, medium £2 15s to £3 ; best porkers £2 10s to £2_l7s ; slips 25s to 27s ; weaners 8s to 14s ; good stores 30s to 335. Horses : Heavy draughts £2B to £34, medium £25 to : £32 ; .spring cart sorts £l6 to £lB, hacks and horness horses £5 to £lO.
