In connection with the Hauraki United Drainage Board’s protest to the Public Works Department concerning the manner j'.il which drain construction in connection with the Waiho.u River stop-banking work near Pekapeka Road had been carried out, a telegram was received at Friday’s board meeting advising that the matter was being looked into. The board in its protest took exception to the deepening of the roadsidfe drain, and to the fact that the bankis had been left almost vertical, in view of the z fact that the maintenance would fall' on tihe board, it had expected that its representations for a on,e horizontal to one vertical batter would be considered, especially as the department had acknowledged that the board, should know what was required in
