PERSONAL.
Mr A. M. Samuel, M.P., was an interested patron at tihe Paeroa races. Mr B. H. Horner, engineer for the Rotorua County Council, has been appointed engineer to the Piako County Council out of over 40 applications. Mr M- J- Harris, wiho was for many years a well-known business man in this town, has returned to Paeroa after spending nearly five years i ]l Ballarat, Australia. Mr Harris, who is spending a busy time meeting old friends, has expressed his profound surprise and pleasure at the progress Paeroa has made during the last few years.
Included in the many visitors who attended the Ohinemuri Jockey Club’s meeting at Paeroa on Saturday were the Mayor of Waihi (Mr W. M. Wallnutl), the Mayor of Thames (Mi W. Bongard), and Messrs. I-I; Lowe (chairman Thames County Council), G. AV. Vercoe (president Hamilton Jockey Club), and R. Sampson (vice-president Taranaki Racing Club.
