CONCERT AT PATETONGA

NGATEA GIIILS’ GLEE CLUB. FROM SUCCI3SS TO SUCCESS. Going from success to success and earning fresh laurels at each appearance. Mrs Bafilham’s Ngatea Girls’ Glee Club received a splendid hearing in the Pateton,ga Hall on Thursday evening last, when the concert previously given at Turua was repeated. The attendance was not large, as there were many other attractions during the week, and the bad acoustic properties of the building and the lack of adequate lighting—a deficiency shop to be remedied—somewhat detracted! from the presentation. But from the opening chorus and the appearance of the Rajah of Bong (Miss K Barriball) and his princess (Miss V. Bertelsen) each item was. warmly applauded. Miss Paul in her naval costume was an. instantaneous success, as also was “Mr” Nonna Elliott. M’ss E. Wheeler’s numbers, were deservedly applauded, and Miss Barbara Basham and the Hayward l girls repeated their former successes and wore recalled. T.he work of Miss KBarriballl showed improvement, and the items by Mis,s Links were very pleasing. Miss D. H2ay : ward wafe likewise very good. Mi,ss D. Rogers was the accompanists. The concluding item, a farce, “T’he Paying Guest,” was a great succejss, all the players, particularly Mrs Ffa/Sham, taking their parts very well. The concert p arty were given supper while the fl'oor was being cleared for dancing.

On behalf C( ? the Patetonga Hall Committee, wJ jich shared in the proceeds, Mr F. J. Mayn thanked Mrs Basham for bringing her concert party to Pat .etonga and complimented her on the quality of the entertainment.
