ELECTRIC POWER.
THE KEBEPEEHI SUB-STATION. much work necessary. The erection of the building at 0 Kerepeehi for the Public Works Department’s electric power sub-station will be completed to-day. The station comprises a (handsome ferro-concrete building to house the transformers and switch gear, a. concrete motor Kgarage, and a wooden residence. •- At this station the Public Works
Department will break downi tli'e electricity from its 50,000-vult BombayWaikino main and deliver it to the Thames Valley Power Board, at a voltage of 11,000.
The Power Board will instal special 1 oipswitches to control the supply to the six mains which are to be fed from. Kerepeehi. These are as follows : Via Pekapeka Road to to Awaiti (for the drain-water pumping load), to Paeroa via the TuruaNetherton road, to Thames via Turua and by cable under the Waiihou River a* the Hauraki bridge, to Waitakaruru via Kopuarahi and Pipiroa, and to Patetonga via Ngatea.These connections will entail many ’ alterations to the existing mains, and a gang of men will arrive next week to commence the work. The switch gear has arrived.
The station will be operated by a Public Works Department employee, who will occupy the residence provided. It is thought that the Power Board will take over jhe station and - house its Plains staff at Kerepeehi < when there is a direct r<ad from Ke'itiechi to Kaihere.
