LAST SATURDAY’S MATOIL PAEROA A DEFEATS; TE AROHA. The Piako Cricket Association’s competition was continued on Saturday last. The attraction locally was a match between the Paeroa A and Te Aroha A elevens. The game, a single innings one, resulted in a win for the some side by the harrow margin of mine runs.

Paeroa batted first, Sale and Taylor opening the innings. In the first over Sale was smartly caught by Hardman before any score resulted. Taylor was then partnered by Stack these, two batsmen compiling 51 runs. A fine display of all-round batting was given by Knight, who put up the creditable score of 31 not out. The bowling also suited Meachem, who made 25 before being caught at midon by Boyd. The visitors tried out six bowlers before disposing of'Paeroa for 126 runs. No maiden overs were bowled. McGlashan, twto wickets for 8, and Macbeth, four for 41, were the best performers with the ball.

For the visitors Hardman (28), McGlasham (27), Whatford (23), and Macbeth (12) were the principal contributors to the score of 115. The Northern Section of the Piako Cricket Association Championship matches were brought to, .a close bn Saturday, leaving Morrins.vil.le the winners of, the section with 31 cup points.. Waitoa wa’s» second with 28 poirtts, Paeroa A third, Te Aroha. A fourth, Paeroa B fifth, and Te Aroha B last.

. Morrinsville will play off with the winners of the South Section to decide, the winners of the Walters’ Cup and clhampionshrp. Morrinsville are also the present holders °f the Bowler Shield, and will be called upon to defend it against Waitoa on. March 3.

PRIMARY SCHOOL MATCH. The following team has been select-, ed to represent the Paeroa Primary School against the Te Aroha school, team at Te Aroha on Friday :— Arnold, Edwards, Shand, Barclay, Curtis, Southby, Callagher, Fulton, T. Campbell, Harvey, Jaspers;, SorensenPLAINS COMPETITION. RESULT STILL IN DOUBT. The final matches of the Hauraki Plains Cricket Association’s annual inter-club competition were played on Saturday last. As three-point wins were secured by Turua, WaifeakaTiuru, and Kopuarahi, the championship points are now: Turua 23, Waitakaruru 23, Kiahere 19, Kopuarahi 18, Ngatea 9, Pipiroa 5, and fOrongo 4'. Waitakaruru and Kopuarahi will accordingly play the innings which was abandoned when the only available ball was broken. ' At Waitakaruru the home team knocked, up 51 and the Ngatea team 24 and 45. Waitakaruru' then made 47 fo the loss of two witeketta, winning by 8 wickets and 29 runs.: The Pipiroa team was dismissed by Kopuarahi for 31 and 51,; the home eleven securing 65 and 32 for no wickets, thus winning by 10 wickets and 15 runs.

Turua., playing at home, made 70 and iDrougo 13 -arid 38, a. three-point win going to the home team, by an innings and 19 runs.

The best batting of the various teams on the day -was by the following players.; Kopuarahi, Rusnell Green 21 not out, T. McKay 18 ; Pipiroa, W. Knox 14, J. Knox 14 ; Waitakaruru, C. Stretton 20 and 21, F. Walsh 24 ; Ngatea, F. Nicol 21, S. Phillips 11 ; Turua, R. D. Macklow 31, M. Madgwiqk 10'.; Orongo, A. McMillan 7, I. BeGdie 6 not out.
