MOTOR CAR ON FIRE.
BLAZE ON WAIHI ROAD.
LITTLE DAMAGE OCCURS. When returning from, Karangahake yesterday afternoon a mOtor-car owned and driyen by Dr. T. G. Smith', Paeroa, caught fire onl the Wai'hi road near Mr' W- M. Sorensen’s residence. It was explained by Dr. Smith that the engine was not running well and. was back-firing at intervals. He stopped the car to investigate the trouble, and as he did so flames issued from the engine under the bonfnet. He made a'n attempt to quell the outbreak, but the flames fiercely. Fortunately Mr C. Wells came along at the moment and lent assistance, the fire being finally subdued by smothering it with road! dust. An examination sh G wS that the wiring- has been burne'd l through in several places, but it is not thought that the carburettor, where the fire appears to have started; is badly damaged.
