WEDDING BELLS.
AVERY—SPRY. A pretty wedding was solemnised at St. James’ Presbyterian Church, Waihi, on Wednesday, February 8, the contracting parties being Miss Bertha Munro Spry, second daughter of Mr W. P. Spry and tiie late Mrs Jane Spry, formerly of Paeroa, and Mr Albert Newton Avery, second son of Mrs Avery and the late Mr W. Avery, of “ Fairhall,” Blenheim. The’ bride, who, entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a handsome dress of champagne s,atin beaute with guipure lace and pearl beads to tone, formed in medallion fashion and caught up at the side. The veil formed a train, and a coronet of orange blossoms and a beautiful bouquet of orchids, carnations, gladi<4as, and roses, interspersed with maiden-hair fern, completed tiie toilette. x She was attended by her sister, Mrs C. T. Capper—as. matron of honour —who. wore a beautiful dress; of vieux rose crepe de chine, with panel of silk radium lace inset. Her bouquet was of carnations, roses, and lilies to tone, and she wore a black crinoline hat with ribbons and flowers. The bridesmaid was the bridegroom’s sister, Miss Grace Avery, who was attired in a dress of electric blue crepe -de chine trimmed with guipure lace. She wore a black hat and carried a bouquet of blue delphiniums, carnations, and gladiolus,, with streamers in keeping. Miss Jane Capper, niece of the bride, who acted as flower-girl, looked pleasing in a pretty dress of shell pink crepe de chine, with an overdress of tulle with pink posies on the shoulder. .She carried a Victorian p°sy of pale blue and pink’ streamers, her head-dress being of pinik tulle. Mr C. J. Capper was ’ best man and Mr W. Bice groomsman. The Rev. J. D. McFarlane performed the ceremony, Mrs Eades, of Northcote, Auckland, presiding at the organ. The bridegroom’s gift to the ’bride was a set of fox furs, to the matron of honour a gold bangle, to the bridesmaid a xylonite brush and comb, and to the flower-girl a gold pendant. Afterwards the guests, numbering upwards of fifty, adjourned to the church hall, where the breakfast and reception were held. The tables were tastefully decorated in blue and white, and the usual toasts were heartily honoured. The many presents, including cheques, testified to the popularity of the bridal pair.
