SWIMMING BATHS.
STEAIIY PROGRESS AT PAEROA.
CONCRETING NEARLY COMPLETED The erection of the municipal swimming baths at Paeroa is proceeding apace and with a continuation of fine weather the builder, Mr W- N. Chamberlain, expects to have the work finished before March 31.
The whole of the flooring is finished, as also are the four -walls to within about a foot of the permanent height. At the present time the boxing necessary .for the last layer of concrete is being -placed in position. Into this layer will be placed a grip rail, composed of %-inch piping, and then the concrete carried above jt to the correct height, When this work is finished the, walls are to receive two coats of plaster, the final one being given a finishing coat of silver sand.' >.
The main outfall drain from the baths to the river is now completed anld piped for the entire distance. The outlet to this drain hals been made a few feet from the deepest end of the baths (Nornrahby Road side), and a splendid fall has been obtained. Yesterday afternoon workmen were engaged in levelling off the site surrounding the baths. It is; proposed t° concrete an area from the swimming pool back about seven feet, and the remainder of the section Is to be neatly laid out and grassed. 'A start is to be made shortly with the erection of the caretaker’s office and the dressing-rooms, which are to be placed at the Princes Street or shallow end of the baths. '
