The statement shows a deficit of £7l for the nine months, whereas If conditions had been normal, and daylight saving conditions omitted, a very satisfactory credit balance would have resulted.

“I would like' to point out that the Kerepeehi supply point costs the board £4'oo per annum in additional power charges alone. i

“The Public Works Department has notified the N.Z. Dairy Co. that supply cannot be .given the company under the three-party agreement after March'3l. Waitoa has n°t had supply since December 31 last. Mr McLeod has seen Mr MacDennan with regard to tb’s and is reporting separately.

‘‘A f tor receiving this notification, and with the chairman’s consent, the Ohinemuri Gold and Silver Mines were notified that, owing to restriction of power from Kdrahora, supply to their mine at Maratoto could not bej given until the position improved, “Consumers.—The total number of consumers' connected to the board’s mains on January 21, 1928, was 5036. In these figures Thames and Te Aroha boroughs .are not included, the consumers in. l Thames Borough be’ng 10'53 and irj Te Aroha Borough 623. During the month 56 lighting ;and beating consumers, 35 water-heaters, 12 electric ranges, together with 38 motors on farms —20 being 2 h.p. milking motors—were connectejd. There are now ■ connected and operatinlg 1320 water-heaters and 230 electric ranges, and the total number of motors connected- and running on farms is 2276, of which 1763 are 2 h.p. milking motors. In addition, 88 consumers had lighting and heating additions made during the month, and in the metering areas there were two 1 h.p., two *2 h.p., and three 3 h.p. motors connected.” -

In moving the adoption l of the report the Chairman said he felt sure that when members analysed the figures they would find them very sab’sfactory. The administration expanses had been reduced to th© minimum consistent with efficiency.

To Mr H. M. Corbett the chairman said that the meter charges had been considerably affected by the daylight saving schemd, as during the hot weather people did not go indoors so early. There had .been little difference. made to the industrial load. In .answer to Mr F. E. Flatt the chairman said that the fact that the Waitoa factory had been disconnected for a part of the time, and also that it wa§ feeding back, had madei a big difference to the month’s figures.
