VISIT OF CLARK MeCONACHY.
MATCH AT CENTRAL PARLOURS. Arrangements are complete for the visit of Clark McConachy, New Zealand professional champion billiardlist, to play a match at the Central Billiard Saloon, Aurora Theatre Buildings, Paeroa, to-night. , Playirfg on a standard table, and commencing at 8 o’clock sharp, 'McConachy will play a gaptie of 7'50 points up against A. A-. (Joe) Ruston, Paeroa, to whom he is conceding 450 points. With the handicap the local man should do well, but in any casq the game will be full of interest.
Prior to the commencement of play an official welcome to Paeroa will be extended to McConhchy by His Worship the Mayor (Mr W- Marshall).
In addition to the billiard match McConachy will, play two games of, snooker, the first being against Ted Lipsham and the second against RaySwann. Both' these players are of Paeroa. The handicaps for the snooker games will not be known until to-night. The record break in billiards; made by McConachy is 1182, With crystalate balls, at Wellington on November 23, 1922. Prior to that he made a record break for New Zealand with boiizoline balls;, the total being 1083. Breaks of over 500 made by McConachy include 917, in Birmingham, February’, 1922; 675, in Thurston’s, London, February, 1922; 614, Nottingham, November, 1921; 538, London, December 1921; 528, Manchester, January, 1922. A record was also established for India by McConachy, the break being over 800.
