MEETING OF ASSOCIATION.
PROGRAMME OF TOURNAMENTS.
The Hauraki Plains Tennis ation met at Ngatea yesterday, Mr AH. McClean presiding over Messrs. EA. Mahoney (Ngatea), V. O’Connor J. M. Devereaux (Turua), and the honorary secretary, Mr A. R. Vowles (Hopai). DELEGATE TO AUCKLAND. Mr R. M. Grant, Auckland, advised acceptance of the appointment as delegate to the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association from the Plains Association. EXECUTIVE SUB-COMMITTEE. In accordance with notice given, Mr Mahoney moved that the rules be amended to provide for the setting up of an executive sub-committee comprising thef president, vice-president, secretary, and the Turua Club’s delegate to deal with urgent business. Seconded by Mr Devereaux and carried. THE TOURNAMENTS. The secretary submitted the handicaps given for the 1928 tournaments, and the draw was made as follows : — Men’s Singles.—First round: H. Messrs A. McClean, J. Devereaux, E. A. Mahoney, A. E. .Ludlow, and C. Bertelsen were appointed a tournament committee. Games will commence at 10 a.m. on Saturday next, llfih inst., at the Ngatea Club’s courts. The Ngatea Club will, organise a refreshment buffet. Me Devereaux said that he ha(l been instructed by the Turua Club to state that players would willingly accept the handicaps given them by Mr Vowles, in whom they had great faith.
The handicaps of. Mr were; fixed by the association.
