The Hauraki United Drainage Board held a special meeting at' Turua ohi Monday to, consider several reqiMsts for additional drains which' w* made during the time when the financial position of the board precluded any consideration being given to S(Uch matters. Mr S. S. Murray presided over .Messrs J. C. Miller, J. M. Thompson, F. L. Hamilton, H. H. Hicks, W. McDuff, F. Kneebone, and the clerk, Mr 'T. D. Wallace. ORONGO BOUNDARY. | The first request to be considered a petition from G. Gray and , seven others for thq continuation of the Orongo Boundary drain' across Ngataipua Road. The request was granted, and the: matter was left in,the hands of the subdivision members to act. PIAKO ROAD DRAINS. Continuing in the northern epd of the district, it was decided to improve the Piako Road northside drain from Hill’s corner to Elvin’s by widening to a one tp one batter when the weather was suitable. . JUBILEE. DRAIN. * The Jubilee drain, is to be widenedand deepened to one to nine batter, two-fbot bottom to Williams* gate, and 14ft top to Hicks’ boundary, and continued to join with Sloane’s drain. -Ka SOLDIERS’ DRAIN'. (The Soldiers’ drain is to be improved by laying back to one, to one batter, 2ft bottom from McComb’s and the bend of the Willow drain at Hitks*. corner. A HiORAHIA OUTLET. Bond and Munro, oh behalf of Mr 'E. and Mrs Bond and Mrs Bell, owners of Tots 4 and 5 of 2 of Te, Awa.jnutu, .. Kopuaralhi 3a 2, wr°te asking that the drain between Messrs Sloane and Jenson’s property be extended a few hundred yards to provide an outlet for the block. The request was granted and tenders are to be called. ORCHARD ' EAST ROADSIDE. 'ffThe overseer was authorised to complete, the south side of the Ngatea roadside drain. HAMILTON’S ROAD CULVERT. A request by J. C. Miller, junr., for a culvert under Hamilton’s’ Road to the Willow drain extension was granted. ' OPOU DISTRICT. h A. J. Heasman and 28 others, petitioned for the improvement of Bagnall’s outlet and for its continuation through Bagnall’s and Davies’ sections to tap the 1 zig-zag drain.
• This, was considered in, conjunction a request from S’. O'. Phelps, and. ten others for the construction of a drain from the Willow .-Tree drain to thes Kerepeehi-Kopuarahi drain 1 be- ■ tween Messrs Shilton’s; and Greensections . for the purpose of emptying_the roadside drain. It was decided .to construct a drain jrom • the Greenwayi-Loader drain trough the sections of Messrs Greenway, Shilton, Mueli, and Thompson al- , most to the end of the zig-zag drain after the Greenway-Loader drain had been improved. ■,■ A proviso to this, to meet the wishes of Mr Hamilton, was that the Bagnall drain be’constructed later on . if, found necessary when the foregoing ,work is completed. ‘ TE KAURI No. 2. ' - It was decided to take 1 up the bottom of the Te Kauri No-2 drain from : 15 chains from the flood-gate to the TuruarNetherton road and to improve thq channel'outside the flood-gate. -®qm the road\to the Willow drain . . will be improved by laying back the batter. ■ ' / PRICE’S OUTLET. The silt - is to be removed from Price’s drain and the Wharepoa. Road drain from the fl<sod-gate to the cross--road. - ' WHAREPOA FLOOD-GATES. The chairman and the clerk were instructed to interview the Public Works,/Department with reference to the .extra flood-gate at Wharepoa Road. MONGANUI AREA. A request for works in thei-Monga.-nui area from Mr Handley and others was held over for future consideration.’ . TE KAURI FLOOD-GATE. The board decided to. inspect the Te Kauri flood-gate before considering a request by Mr J.'Newman. THE TENDERS; The chairman and clerk were authorised to call for tenders for these works when the approval of the lands drainage engineer has, been obtained.
