The first annual tournament to be held under the auspices of the Thames Valley Lawn Tennis Association will take place next week-end, January 28 and 30, om tire Paeroa Lawn Tennis Club’s courts. The association has elected a strong committee of local enthusiasts, with Mr D. G. McMillan as tournament secretary, to conduct the tournament arrangements, and no effort is he'ng spared by these officers to ensure a successful season. The Thames Valley Lawn Tennis Association is a newly formed association, with direct affiliation with the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, having territory and en’tire control in this, district, and provides a long-felt want for such a governing body with definite objects of controlling and promoting tennis in the Valley. For this reason much interest has been aroused among tennis players throughout the Thames Valier, and there seems no doubt that record entries, will be received for the various events of this tournament. The handicap events will be played on the first day, and the Thames Valley championships ufill be competed for on Monday. .Good tennis is sure to, be displayed in these events, and the public are invited to support the game of. tennlis by their attendance at the finals of this day’s play.
