At last night’s, meeting of tlia Paeroa Borough Council the Mayor (Mr W. Marshall) referred to the acc’dent that had befallen Cr.. W. Turner, necessitating him becoming an inmate of Thames Hospital. The Mayor said that the accident was particularly unfortunate tpi a man who had reached Cr. Turner’s age. It was resolved to forward a letter of sympathy to Cr. Turner and express the hope that he would soon be up and about in the community again.

Referring to the revision of bylaws at last night’s meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council, Cr. F. E. Flatt said that the work Was important, and he thought a special meeting should be held to go into the" matter, so that the by-laws would be ready by April next. The necessity to frame by-laws governing, tlie swimming baths was pointed put by Cr. Silcock. The Mayor agreed, and said that he ■had nearly a page of foolscape of matters to consider.

This week’s, issue of. the “N.Z, Sporting and Dramatic Review ” should prove, an exceptionally popular one on account of t-he (attractiveness and diversity ofi the illustrations displayed therein. An added attraction is a. beautiful coloured supplement of Tommy Green, the Dominion’s winning jockey last season. The photographs devoted to the flight across the Tasman with scenes before the departure, the Ryan monoplane and the missing airmen should appeal to all. The Dargaville Racing Club’s meeting is featured in two pages of vivid snaps. In the miscellaneous section appear a pretty page of young holiday makers on the beach, a frontispiece of Miss Billie. Burke, and niumerous stage and screen photos.
