PATETONGA WINS SEMI-FINAL.
The final match of-' the Hauraki Plains. Tennis Association’s eliminating round for the Howell Williams Memorial Shield was played on Saturday when the Patetonga team visited kerepeehi and secured a win by the narrowest possible margin.
Details of the scores are as fellows, the names of the Patetonga players being mentioned first:
Men’s Singles.—D. Pike lost to N. Clay, 7—9 ;F. Plummer lost to G. Crisp 4' —9 ; E. Pulman lost to E. Smart,. 6—9; J. Duffy beat CO’Loughlin, 9 —7. Men’s Doubles.—Pike and Plummer beat Clay and Crisp, 9—5 Pulman and Duffy beat'Smart and O’Lpughlin., 9—7 ; Garry and. Taylor beat ■Hudson and Candy, 9 —B. •
Combined Doubles. —J. Garry and Miss Duffy C. Hudson and Miss' Rogers, 7—3 ; H. Taylor and Miss Pulman lost to H. Candy and Mrs Adlum, 4—7. ■
Ladies’ Singles.—Miss B. Duffy beat Mrs O’Loughlin, 7—3 ; Miss M. Wallace beat Mrs Hudson, 7—2. Ladies’ Doubles.—Misses Duffy and Wallace lost to Mrs O’Loughlin and Mrs Hudson, 5—7 ; Misses Duffy ajiid Pulman lost to Miss Bogers and. Mrs Adlum, 2—7. z
Totals : Patetpnga, 7 sets, 85 games. Kerepeehi, 6 sets, 83 games. The Patetonga team will therefore play Turua on Saturday next.
