r LAST SATURDAY’S MATCHES. WAITOA DEFEATS PAEROA B. The last games in the third round of the Piako Cricket Association's competition were played under ideal , weather conditions on Saturday afternoon. The match at the local domain was played between the Waitoa and Pacroa B teams, and resulted in a thre>eWpoiiit win for t)hq visitors. - Garner won the toss for Waitoa and sent the home team in to bat, the innings closing for 42 runs. The principal contributors were Rolton, played a fine free game for 15, jhml Roberts >lO. The visitors’ first innings produced only 34 runs, Garner and Souter, with 12 and 7 respectively, being the top scorers. In the second injvngs Paeroa made 44* runs, Fox (15) and Knight. (10) being the only players to rejacli double figure?. Requiring 53 runs for a-wln Waitoa batted in a second innings, and after compiling 83 runs for the loss, of three wickets then declared, the visitors winning by seven wickets and 31 runs. PLAINS. MATCHES: The Hauraki Plains Cricket Association's inter-club competitions were continued on Saturday lagt. The; Kopuarahi club team secured 1 a three-point win against Orongo by getting 68 runs, to the 24 and 15 se<cured by Orongo. The only double figure scores; were obtained by RConnors ,31, and A. Cranston, 10. The outstanding bowlers were H. Candy, (6 for 3), p. Connors (3 flor 2 and 6 for 11). and N- Death (7 for 20). <At Waitakaruru the home team seJprprl 65, and Pipiroa 28 runs for the_ first innings, and 71 for the second. In Waitakaruru’s second innings 36 runs were knocked up for 5 wickets down, and a three-point win was thus gained.- , Big scoies were; recorded in the Ngatea-Kaiihere game, in which Kaihere secured a three-point win with a margin of as many runs- as the visi- , tors scored in their two innings. Kaihere/s score .was 14'5, of which A. J. McDonald accounted for 70 and J. Thompson, a new arrival in the dis- • trict, 33. Ngatea had only eight men, but played two Kaihere men in the team.
