monthly meeting. The monthly meeting of the Turiia Town Board was held on Wednesday evening, Mr J. M. Mules presiding oyer Messrs J. H. Johnston, S. G. Williams, J. Schmidt, and the clerk, Mr J. B. Green. ROAD WORKS. Tiie chairman reported that the spreading of metal chips on the bitumen roads where the bitumen wasl commencing to run had proved very, satisfactory. Chips had proved preferable to sand, which was liable to be blown away. Mr Mules also reported that the work of removing the earth from the sides of the bitumeiu roads to enable the water to run off was almost completed. The outlet channels would be, made during or after the next rain. It was decided to apply for a progress, payment on- account of the 30s to the, £ subsidy. A letter was received from the Hauraki United Drainage Board advising that it intended holding the Town Board responsible for any damage which might occur to the roadside drainage to the. placing of spoil on the drain bank. The chairman considered that no damage] would result. Mr WilUams, took exception to the placing of responsibility on the Town Board by the Drainage Board, and it was decided to inform the Drainage Board that the Board regrettecUts inability to accept the liability. OPARIA ROAD BRIDGE. Mr" Williams advocated improving the approach to the bridge at the Oparia Road corner. There was a drop of over six inches off the bridge. It was decided to attend to the mattei. HEAVY TRAFFIC FEES. The Hamilton Borough Council, the controlling authority in the No. 3 Heavy Traffic D’strict, forwarded notice of an application made to the stipendiary magistrate to apportion the heavy traffic fees. The meeting closed when the lights went out at 10 pan., and the motion authorising the payment of accounts was taken in darkness.
