MOTOR CAR BURNED.

"r CON'FI/AGBATION NEAR WAITOA. PAEROA RESIDENT'S LOSS. When prpceeog to Morrinsville on Tuesday evening, when about halfway and Waitoa a fiyeseater Jewett motor-car owned and driven by Mr W. Page, of Hall Street, #aeroa, was destroyed by fire. Mr Page left Paeroa and made, a good rim through to just beyond Tatuanui, when,’ noticing a glare coming from’ the left-hand side of the bonnet, he stopped the car. On lifting the bonnet to investigate, the ad-TMttance-of air evidently caused the Jdmes to ignite, and the engine was quickly enveloped in flames, The fire appeared to have originated in or near the carburettor. The driver of a crejam lorry which was passing at the time went to the assistance of Mr Page. Unfortunately there was no water available, and despite every endeavour to smother the flames with dust, the machine whs soon reduced to a charred heap of scrap-iron. The car was insured, against fire in. the National Fire Insurance Office. On finding that nothing could be done Mr Page returned to Waitoa, where he stayed the night. Early next morning he went put to salvage what was possible, from the car, but . some person had preceded him, and it was found that the derelict had been 3 ell picked over and everything of ly value stolen.
