ESCAPE OF LEOPARD.
AT LARGE IN LONDON. STROKED BY SMALL BOY. ' LONDON, December. 27. A leopard escaped from an animal dealer’s shop in Camden Town - last night. The escape was only l discovered t.hisi morning, whqn it led to a widespread search by the owner, police, and civilians, carrying nets. The police traversed the district warning mothers to keep'their children in. Meanwhile the leopard w.anderel into* the backyard of Mr Pizetr’s ihouse in Park” Street. Leslie Pizeir, who was playing in the garden, thought it was “.a big cat/’ and stroked it. But the leopard growled, and the' growl reached the mother’s) ears. The mother, puzzled, snatched the baby away, because she did not know the strange animal.
The owner, G. Palmer, arrived an ’ claimed the animal, saying “This is my leopard!” , The leopard then made a passage through the house. Mrs Pizer collapsed, while Mr Pizer flung a sack over the leopard’s head. The animal was them restored to the shop.
