PROGRESSIVE PAIRS. CHRISTMAS TOURNEY WINNERS. The attraction at the Iccal bowling green over Christmas was a prvgie.sive pairs competition, which was played on -Monday and Tuesuuy. On Monday six pairs took part, ana aiter keen competition It was foupu mat W. Purdie, .with a total score of 101 points, was the winning s-kip, and R. Lowry, with 97 points, had won 'ii the leads. On Tuesday morning the seconu tourney commenced, eignt pairs taking part. At the conclusion of the day’s play W. J. Towers, 73, was the winning skip, find T. H. Hale, 92 points, the winning lead.
The green was in perfect order on both days, and an enjoyable time was spent by the players. Following are the details :—
Monday’s Play.—Skips : W. Purdie, 2 wins 2 losses; W. T. Power, 3 wins, 2 losses.; F. Marsh, 3 wins, 2 losses ; W. J. Towers, 2 wins, 3 losses; T. T. Hale, 2 wins-, 3 losses; W. H. Taylor, 2 wins, 3 losses-.
Leads : R. Lowry, 5 wins ; L. Gibb, 4 wins, 1 loss ; C. Holes and P. HagueSmith, each 2 wins and 3 losses ; J. H. McDonald and J. Brocket, each .1 win and 3 losses.
Tuesday’s Play.—Skips : W. J. Towers, 4 wins, 1 loss ; -W. Purdie, 4 wins, 1 loss ; C. Clews, 4 wins, 1 loss ; W. T'. Power, 3 wins, 1 loss,; L. Gibb, 2 wins, 1 loss ; F. Marsh, W. H. Taylor, and W. Hamilton, each one win and. 4 losses.

TOURNAMENT AT TE AROHA. PAEROA TEAMS SELECTED. The usual New Year bowling tournament is to,be held at Te, Aroha again, commencing on Monday, January 2.
This year the Paeroa club is send ing five te.ams to take part, and the following have been selected : J. H. McDonald, J. W. Silcock, W. J. Towers, W. H. Taylor (skip); W. N. Chamberlain, C. Holes, M. H. Chamberlain, J. Pinder (skip) ; J. A. Wilkinson, L. Gibb, F. Marsh, W. T. Power (skip) ; J. Brocket, G. H. Vowles, W. Perston, T. H. Hale (skip) ; IL Lowry, W. Forrest, W. Hamilton, W. Purdie (skip).
The tournament will extend over Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
