CHRISTMAS PAIRS TOURNAMENT. PROGRESS OF COMPETITIONS. . The Paeroa Bowling Club has ar- . ranged a progressive pairs' competition for the Christmas holidays. The tournament will copunence on Monday at 9 a.m„ be continued on Tuesday,, and, if necessary, the finals will be played later on in the next week. Players are requested to enter their names at the paviliop as early as possible. BRENAN SHIELD COMPETITION. The following is the position of the various teams to date: F. Marsh’s team, 1 win 2 losses; W. H. Taylor’s, 1 win l loss; W. Hamilton’s, 2 wins v 1 loss ; W. J. Towers’, 2 wins 1 less ; T. H. Hale’s, 2 wins 1 loss ; W. For- ' 0 wins 2. Ipsses ; P. Williams’, 1 loss; W. Purdie’s, 2 wins 0 losses ; J. Pinder’s, 0 wins 2 losses. HANDICAP PAIRS COMPETITION. This’competition is creating a great deal of interest, and more games liave been played to date than has been played during any one season. Played in two sections, the; position to date is as, follows :— A' Slect'on.—Cane and Pascoe, 3 wins 2 losses ; de Castro and Holes, 1 win 4 losses ; Mettam and Morlan i, 5 wins 3 losses ; Purdie and Thornton’, 2 wins 3 losses Hamilton and Alexander, 1 win 2 losses; Wilkinson and Barclay, 3 wins 3 losses; Gibb and Finnie, 5 wins 1 loss; P. Williams and F. S. Williams, 3 wins 2 losses ; and Jes Sen, 0 wins 3 losses. B. Section.—Marsh and Wright, 1 ' win 1 loss ; Forrest and Ellis, 2 wins 1 loss ; Chamberlain and Chamberlain, 2 wins 2 losses ; Hale and Thprp 3 wins 3 losses;; Towers and Silcock’, 0 wins 3 losses ; W. Those with five or more wins: go into a two-life section, those with tour or more losses go into a one-life section. and the competition will then be Played off-until finality is reached.
