With the advent of Christmas our thoughts go out to relatives and friends with a keep desire to select something suitable as a remembrance of the festive season. A visit to Mr F. E. Mr Blyth’s stock of reading material is very extensive this Christmas, and patrons can reply on a first-class selection. In the children’s department the stock comprises Girls’ and Boys’ Own Annual, Chums, Chatterbox, and Reward books arid a large assortment of picture and story books. For grown-ups the latest novels are displayed on the shelves. The best authors are represented, including Jeffery Farnol, Zane Grey, Ethel M. Dell, Harold B. Wright, and others. Reprints are also .available at popular prices. An excellent present will be found among the choice selection of classics and works of; the English poets, and translations from the best Continental writers. Christmas-cards are as popular as ever this year, and shoppers will find a great variety; and this also applies to attractive wall and desk calendars. Mr Blyth has imported a special selection of high-grade English crockery Ware, bearing the quaint and interesting Chinese design, which is to be sold at a very reasonable price. Since the writer dwelt last yeai upon this widely appreciated service the business has steadily forged ahead and is to-day the leading fish shop in the town. Comfortable luncheon and supper rooms have been added, and fish meals are obtainable at all hours. Specially prepared fish, and chips, either hot or cold, to take home are al.ways available. Every kind of fresh fish, smoked fish, and shellfish in season is stocked. Supplies of fish are received daily from Thames and Bowentown, and the Waihi hapuka and schnapper make a delectable meal. All fish is kept on ice, and a hygienic window spray and trough keep it fresh and cool throughout the hottest weather.

Christmas without ( a ham would be strange indeed, so this firm stocks the delicious Hydra special hams', and also small goods of all description. Campers and picnickers will find these appetising, ready-to-eat goods a boon and a blessing. At the present time plums apricots, peaches, grapes, and fresh strawberries are arriving daily, direct from the growers. Patrons can rely on getting only the choicest and freshest New Zealand grown fruit, and latest shipments of Island oranges, bananas, and pines.
