LAST SATURDAY’S MATCHES.,
THAMES DEFEATS PAEROA.
On Saturday afternoon last the Thames Tennis Club played an interclub match against Paeroa on the local courts. Ideal weather prevailed, ajid the courts were in splendid playing condition. After an interesting contest the visitors, secured an easy victory by seven sets or 39 games. Following are the details, the Paeroa players being mentioned first in each instance :— & Ladies’ Singles.—Miss V. Shand beat Mrs Glover, 7 —5 ; Miss H. Shand lost to Miss Payne, 3 —7.
Men’s Singles.—Ruston lost to Dr. Gray, 2 —9 ; McMillan lost to Garland,’s— 9; H. Thorp lost to S. Dauby, o—9 ; F. Thorp lost to Poulgrajn, 5—9.
Ladies’ Doubles.—Misses H. and VShand lost to Mrs Glover and Miss Payne, 3—7 ; Misses C. Taylor and Ellis lost to Mrs Danby and Miss Hedley, 4—7.
Men’s Doubles. —Ruston and H. Thorp lost to Dr. Gray and Poulgrain, I—9 ; McMillan and Steedman lost to S. Danby and Garland, B—9 ; F. Thorp and Bluck beat Dodd and A. Danby, 9—7. Combined Doubles. —Miss Ellis and Bluck lost tJ Mesdames Dodd, and Danby, 5 —7 ; Miss O’Grady and Steedman beat M,iss Hedley and Danby, 7—4. ,
Totals : Thames 10 sets (98 games); Paeroa, 3 sets (59 games).
