TURUA.
ANGLICAN BAZAAR,
The annual bazaar in aid of the Turua Anglican Church building fund was held in the Turua Town Hall on ' Thursday last. There was a good' attendance during the afternoon, but in the evening the atendances was not as large as was expected. Efewever;. nearly £lOO was raised. The stall-holders were: Plain- and’ fancy sewing, Mesdames Beill, Carter,. Robinson, and Walker ; sweets. Misses; Madgwick, Scott, and f Hamilton ~ cakes, Mesdames Baigent and T. Scott; produce, Mesdames J. Hamilton and F. Loader ; tea rooms, Mesdames Gree,n, White, Henwood, Dagger, Miss Schmidt, and Miss Mules ; dips, Mesdames H. Brown and Braizendale.
During the evening numerous competitions were held. For guessing the number of articles in bottles the following were the prizes and prizewinners : Silk set, Mrs Gibson; lingerie set, Miss E. Treadway; cake,. Mrs F. C. RObinson; box of chocolates,. Miss Mules; shaving set, L. Brown;: gold watch, Mr R. Madgwick ; pillow shams, Mr F. C. Robinson; doll’s name (Mary), Miss B. Gray. The: nail-driving competitions were won' by Mrs W. Clark and Mr S. Stephens,, and the bull-board competition by Mr C. Scott.
In the cookery competitions the? prize-winners were as follows : Homemade bread, Mrs Murray 1, Mrs: Schmidt 2; scones, Mrs Burfoot 1,Mrs J. Flynn 2; sponge sand’wicli' without butter, Mrs Hall 1, Miss Treadaway 2 ; sponge sandwich with butter, Miss N. Schmidt 1, Mrs Young 2 t
