Sir Robert Stout says the, local governments of New Zealand cost us 20 millions annually. Its general government runs us into about 27 millions — j 47 millions altogether—for a million « and a half people, just round about rl £32 annually per man, woman, and child. If ,we aren’t well governed, we should fye (states an exchange).
