PAEROA STOCK SALE.

LARGE YARDING YESTERDAY.

DAIRY STOCK VALUES EASIER,

The monthly stock sales conducted by the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., was held at the. paeroa saleyards yesterday. There was a heavy yarding of cattle, and buyers were present from Auckland and all parts of the district. There can be little doubt that Paeroa is now recognised as an ideal centre for the holding of stock sales. A large number of cattle met with re,ady sale under the hammer, and several lines which were passed in at auction were afterwards disposed of privately. The values obtained for dairy stock were easier, while the demand for this class of animal was not nearly so keen. There was little or no demand for bulls, and the majority of them were sold at boner prices. The following is an indication of the prices that ruled :—

Best dairy cows and heifers £8 10s to £9 2s 6d, others £7 to £8 ss, backward £5 to £6 10s, rough and inferior £3 10s to £4 10s ; fat cows, £5 to £6 2s 6d ; good meaty cows, £4 to £4 10s ; fresh store cows £3 to £3 7s 6d, old and inferior £2 to £2 15s ; fat steers up to £lO 5s ; empty Jersey-cross dairy heifers £4 to £4 6s, others £3 5s to £3 17s 6d; yearling Shorthorn heifejrs £3 Us, others £2 10s to £3.
