The Summertime Act, which commenced at 2 o’clock yesterday morning, was quietly accepted by the local residents, and no inconvenience has been caused. The majority of people took the precaution to advance, their timepieces one hour before, retiring on Saturday night. The local portmaster (Mr W. E. Ward) had the unenviable task of rising yesterday morning and in the presence of a witness advanced the post office clocks 60 minutes. In a few days the alteration in the time will have become a custom. This morning dawned with an overcast sky, and the joy and value of being out of bed an hour earlier was not felt to advantage. So far as can be ascertained the, majority of borough residents are in favour of the measure, and are looking forward to the long evening after the day’s regular routine.

Both cars were badly smashed, and tlie taxi was run into the edep roadside drain, from where it was removed on Sunday morning. Neither driver was injured.
