INCREASE TO 35,000 A YEAR.
BLAME WAR AND REVOLUTION.
Thirty-five tnousand marriages go smash every year in Germany, according to latest statistics. This means an enormous increase, compared to the figures of two decades ago.
Clergymen, sociologists, and the authorities agree that the constantly increasing number of divorcee is due to the changed conditions brought about by the war and revolution. About 50 per cent, of the divorces are, granted by the courts on charges of adultery and the rest for cruelty, incompatibility, non-support, and other reasons.
Most of the couples legally separace,d have been married less than ten years, but d,n 1925 1682 men and women who had been married more than 25 years* sought marital freedom.
