AUCTIONEER’S NOTE —This is the second annual offering of the Hurden Jerseys, and contains some very fine animals. A glance through the pedigrees set out in the catalogue will forcibly bring home to buyers the fact that, as far as breeding goes/it would be very, very hard to improve upon these. Half of the offering are by or directly trace to that handsome bull Peggy’s Noble Aster. He is by Holly Bank Squire, out of K.C.B.’s famous daughter Lady Peggy, and is leaving some very choice sons and daughters, combining constitution and type. The other sire of note is Hut Brook Fury’s Majesty, who is by Majesty’s Squire out of Fury’s Fairy. This good young bull traces back on his sire’s side to The, Squire (imported—and Majesty’s. Fox (imp.) and on his. dam’s side to the Doctor (imp.), and Fury (imp.). The progeny of Peggy s Noble Aster have been most successful in the show ring, and include the following successes, Egmont Show, 1925, 2 year old daughter won firs t prize for heifer in milk in class of 15, and 3 old daughter 2nd prize Stratford Show, 2nd prize for 3 females by same sire, Ist prize bull and progeny class, Ist prize pair 2 year old heifers, 2nd and 3rd prizes for 2 year and 3 year old heifers respectively. Mr Cowling’s cattle are pastured close to Mt. Egmont, are hardy and good constitutioned, and the whole herd of over eighty average consistently well over 3001bs butterfat (factory returns) per cow on grass alone.
