UNITED DRAINAGE BOARD
DIFFICULTY OVER LOANS.
LEGISLATION PROMISED. Advice has been received by the Hauraki United Drainage Board from the acting-Minister of Internal Affairs/, Sir Maui Pomare, that as the result of an interview by the board’s solicitor (Mr E. L. Walton) and the two local members of Parliament (Messrs A. M. Samuel and T. W. Rhodes) two clauses would be inserted in the Local Legislation Bill to validate and empower the Hatiraki United Drainage Board to carry on and raise the balance of the late Horahia and Haurak i drainage boards’ loans.
Tire communication doejs not state when the Bill will come before Parliament, but as it is usually one of the last measures’ of tfic session it will probably appear about the e.nd of ,the present month or early in November. There is the chance that the bank will not withhold the money any bonge;r now that the legislative authority is in sight and the seasion when, it could he effectively spent is passing. The money is required for the To, Kauri drain proposal.
